BBA 2025 Winners Announced!

On Friday, 7 November 2025, the British Chamber of Commerce in Japan (BCCJ) hosted their flagship event of the year - the 18th British Business Awards (BBA). Forever a staple to our yearly agenda, the evening marked a record-breaking celebration of excellence within the UK-Japan business community.
2025年11月7日、在日英国商業会議所（BCCJ）は、毎年恒例の旗艦イベントである第18回ブリティッシュ・ビジネス・アワード（BBA）を開催しました。BCCJ年間行事の中でも欠かせない存在である本イベントは、UK–Japanビジネスコミュニティの卓越性を称える場として、これまでにない盛り上がりを見せました。
This year’s theme, ‘Beyond the Sky, Achievement in Motion’, captured the forward momentum and tangible achievements of our members across Digi-Tech, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI), and responsible business. Aptly, the theme aligned with our headline sponsor, British Airways – the first airline to have connected Japan and the UK with passenger flights since 1948.
今年のテーマ「Beyond the Sky, Achievement in Motion」は、DigiTech、ダイバーシティ・エクイティ＆インクルージョン（DEI）、サステナビリティ、そして責任あるビジネスの分野におけるBCCJ会員の具体的な取り組みと前進を体現しています。また、1948年以来、日本と英国を定期旅客便で結んできた初の航空会社であるブリティッシュ・エアウェイズがヘッドラインスポンサーを務め、テーマとの親和性をより一層高めました。
At the heart of the evening were seven distinguished award categories, recognising 48 remarkable nominees. The winners, presented with bespoke trophies by the UK Ambassador to Japan, Julia Longbottom CMG, were celebrated for their vision, innovation, and leadership in their respective fields. Each award reflected the enduring strength and evolution of UK–Japan relations. Each trophy, thematically named 'Under the Same Sky', was hand sculpted by Kate Thomson of Ukishima Sculpture Studio marking this her 16th continued year of crafting true one-of-a-kind pieces.
式典の中心となったのは、7つの名誉あるアワード部門。合計48件の優れたノミネートの中から選ばれた受賞者たちは、在日英国大使ジュリア・ロングボトムCMGより、特製トロフィーを授与されました。受賞者のビジョン、革新性、そしてリーダーシップが称えられるたびに、UK–Japan関係の発展と強固な絆が改めて感じられる瞬間となりました。トロフィーは「Under the Same Sky（同じ空の下で）」というテーマのもと、浮島彫刻スタジオのケイト・トムソン氏によって一つひとつ手作業で制作されたものです。トムソン氏がBBAのトロフィーを手掛けるのは、これで16年目となります。

Digital, Tech & Innovation Award
Winner: Quantinuum
"Quantinuum, a global leader in quantum computing, has driven innovation in Japan since 2019. In 2025, its ion-trap quantum computer REIMEI was installed at RIKEN and integrated with FUGAKU, Japan’s national flagship supercomputer — creating the world’s first hybrid HPC-quantum platform to power humanity’s next breakthroughs.”
Responsible Business Award
Winner: Walk Japan
“Walk Japan integrates ESG into all its operations: revitalising rural communities, expanding sustainable farming, restoring heritage and promoting inclusive governance. From rice harvests to recovery tours, their actions deliver measurable impact aligned with the UN SDGs and demonstrate the power of responsible tourism in Japan.”
Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Award
Winner: Transreport
“Transreport has been recognised for their Passenger Assistance, co-created with disabled and older people and launched with Hankyu Railway, which is transforming travel in Japan. By removing barriers and easing anxiety, it empowers independence and dignity. More than technology, it’s a commitment to inclusion, setting new standards for accessible journeys across Japan’s transport networks.”
New Market Entrant of the Year
Winner: Tokamak Energy K.K.
"Tokamak Energy K.K. was incorporated in Tokyo in February 2025 to expand global operations and deepen UK-Japan collaboration in fusion energy and superconducting technologies. They are supporting Japan’s energy security and decarbonisation goals, building on partnerships with government, industry and Academia."
UK-Japan Partnership of the Year
Winner: Octopus Energy & Tokyo Gas Co., Ltd.
“TG Octopus Energy, a UK-Japan JV between Tokyo Gas and Octopus Energy UK, are Japan’s fastest growing energy supplier. Blending British innovation with Japanese trust, they now supply affordable 100% renewable power to 400,000+ households via Kraken, redefining the market with transparency and simplicity while driving a low-carbon transition.”
Entrepreneur / SME of the Year
Winner: KiFor
“KiFor runs hands-on social impact workshops that unite employee growth with community good. In the past year, they have engaged 100+ employees, raised ¥660,000+ for single mothers and the homeless, and donated 100+ laptops and food boxes to orphans, proving that businesses in Japan can lead with purpose and social impact.”
Company of the Year
Winner: The British School in Tokyo
“As BST celebrates 35 years of growth, their mission to provide inclusive, holistic education has led to IB World School status, strong exam results, world-top university placements, and global partnerships. From humble beginnings, they have grown to over 1,400 students, 270 staff, two campuses, a thriving international alumni network, and strong partnerships within Japan - positively impacting Japanese society through employment, cultural exchange, and community engagement.”
We began the British Business Awards 2025 in partnership with our Exclusive Sparkling Wine Partner, Nyetimber, who opened the evening with their quintessentially British Classic Cuvee Multi-Vintage. Paired with lively conversation and a sense of anticipation, the night lifted beyond the sky — an ascent of celebration, connection, and achievement that set the tone for what was to follow. The BBA began with unmistakable sparkle and spirit.
2025年のブリティッシュ・ビジネス・アワード（BBA）は、エクスクルーシブ・スパークリングワイン・パートナーであるナイティンバー（Nyetimber）との共催により幕を開けました。英国らしさを体現するクラシック・キュヴェ・マルチヴィンテージが振る舞われ、軽やかな会話と高揚感に包まれた会場は、まるで空を越えていくような特別なひとときに包まれました。まさに、きらめきとともに始まる一夜となりました。
The atmosphere quickly soared as Japan’s first all-female acrobatic dance group, G-Rockets, took to the stage. Their commanding performance, defined by precision and energy, captivated the audience and brought a dynamic momentum to the room.
続いて、日本初の女性だけによるアクロバティック・ダンスグループ「G-Rockets」が登場。その力強くも洗練されたパフォーマンスで、会場全体を魅了し、夜にさらなる躍動をもたらしました。
Guided seamlessly by our ever-wonderful Masters of Ceremonies, Guy Perryman and Madoka Kato, the evening unfolded with a familiar warmth. Now in its third year at the Hilton Tokyo, the BBA was elevated further by the newly refurbished Kiku Ballroom, enhanced by its refreshed design and state-of-the-art facilities.
司会はおなじみのガイ・ペリマン氏と加藤円花氏。お二人の温かく軽やかな進行により、どこか懐かしく心地よい雰囲気が会場を包みました。今年で3年目となるヒルトン東京での開催では、リニューアルされた菊の間を使用し、新たな設備と美しい空間で、より一層洗練されたひとときをお楽しみいただきました。
Throughout the venue, aviation-inspired details carried guests to new heights — from vintage British Airways posters to a playful captain’s salute by BCCJ President Richard Lyle, which drew laughter and delight as dinner began.
会場内には、航空をテーマにしたブリティッシュ・エアウェイズのヴィンテージポスターやアート作品など、遊び心ある演出が随所に施されました。BCCJ会頭リチャード・ライルによる「機長の敬礼」も披露され、笑顔と拍手が広がる和やかな幕開けとなりました。
The signature BCCJ Bar once again became a focal point for connection and discovery.
